WHAT ARE MY OBLIGATIONS AS NON RESIDENTS IN SPAIN?

 

You may know, if you live in Spain during less than 183 days per year, you are not considered fiscal resident in Spain. It means, you have no obligation to declare, except in these following cases:

 



TYPES OF TAX DECLARATION IN SPAIN :

 



TAX NON RESIDENTS INCOME TAX:

 

Applies to income obtained in Spain ( only spanish source) by NON RESIDENTS: business income, interests generated, dividends, sale of shares, real estate incomeā€¦

 

For instance:

 

For the Year of return 2016.

 

Residents in EU, Iceland and Norway 19%.

Tax rate other taxpayers: 24%.




WEALTH TAX:

 

Non Residents are subject to the said tax declaration only for assets and rights located in Spain through a Form called 714 ( available on the tax office web site).

 

Rate: from 0.2%-2,5%




INHERITANCE & GIFT TAX:

 

Non Residents are taxed on Spanish -source income for the purposes of inheritance and gift Tax, Spain has double taxation treaties with Greece, France and Sweden.



Rate: from  7,65%-34%



LOCAL TAXES:

 

Also called, IBI ( Impuesto sobre Bienes Inmuebles) this tax is necessary to pay it, if you own a garage, property, storage room...etc. The sum is determined by the city where is located the real estate and should be paid every year.
